178 Club in Bull Shoals

We love coming to stay at Gaston’s and one reason is our drive back to town to the 178 Club. We enjoy everything about this atmosphere and food. Coming back in September and I’m already looking forward to their dinner!! It is our yearly trip. We would easily move there if there was a bit more to the town. Maybe we need to know more if they have seasonal events.

The 178 Club has a 10 lane real wood bowling alley, a sports bar, a bar-b-que kiosk, and a full service restaurant that serves everything from fried chicken, fresh water fish, to burgers and fries. It is a little pricy but well worth it.

Old-fashioned American style menu. In keeping to the 1960's theme, it would be awesome if you could add some blue plate specials with healthy sides, and non-fried entrees.

Awesome food and service

Service was fine. Food was less than pleasant. The walleye had so much breading you couldn't find the fish and the baked potato looked like last nights left overs.

I see the owner likes their place. I went there once and didn't care for the service. They had a special the server wanted to talk me into. The reason it was "a deal" over the regular menu, it didn't come with a salad or potato. So the server added them on and I had to pay more than off the regular menu. The regular menu would have been less talking with the server and cost more. The steak wasn't cooked right. The atmosphere and service was very disappointing. I was told this was an upscale restaurant. I gave the person who told me that a piece on what an upscale place would really be like. The fact that this place is attached to a bowling alley says a lot.

Food was really great, best fried Walleye I've eaten. My wife's fillet mignon was juicy and tender, just as she ordered it. The Italian cream cake was made in house. Not real sweet and sugary, which is how I like it.

Lay back feel but the lighting is darker than I would like.Besides that everyone there was wonderful.So yes I would go back again.

Best fried 'shrooms I have ever had. Homemade and delish! Sit in Ted's section....he is from the old school of table service and makes the meal even better. Non-intrusive, anticipates your needs so you rarely have to ask for anything. I have the Salmon(grilled) with broccoli and "toasties" everytime....so good. Steaks are all excellent. Bon Appetit

Shiela is awesome. We have so much fun when we go there. They have pool tables and music.

I have eaten here in the past and it has always been literally gourmet food and five star service. Last night I Was no exception! Once again well done! My recommendation to anyone in the area is to give them a try. It’s hands down the best restaurant in 100 miles!

Wonderful dinner on Valentine's day. There wasn't a thing we had that wasn't great. I wish I could remember our servers name because she was excellent.

Walleye was excellent. We recommend trying this restaurant anytime you're in the area!

We had dinner there on Mother's Day. The food was delicious, and cooked just the way we wanted it. We thought maybe they were trying a little too hard to cut expenses. No bread service unless requested, and portions were small.

A hidden gem. I have lived in the Mountain Home area for 8 years and didn't know about this wonderful restaurant. WOW, I was surprised at how good the food actually was. I had the Mediterranean Chicken and it was delicious. I will be going back soon

Delightful restaurant with some excellent options. We had the two porkchop dishes which were very good. As an added pleasure, they have yuengling on tap.

First the waitress was great ..however I ordered the lobster with broccoli and wild rice. the lobster was way over cooked to the point of no flavor and very tough. rice was bland but the broccoli was cooked perfect . My husband had the pork loin which he usually gets but tonight it was kind of bland . no sauce to speak of. linguini was just ok. The salads was good love the poppyseed dressing.

This place is awesome! Exceptional food and service for over 30 years...seems there are those who are friends of other restaurants who like to bash this place!!

Wonderful place. I've been bowling here for almost 7 years now. And i have to say excellent lanes. by ball really hooks when i throw it down the lane. the service at the restaurant is excellent as well. My food came out very fast but it was well done just like how i asked for.

The fried walleye platter is first rate with flash fried (fresh) nuggets, crisp crinkle fries, and a nice homemade tartar sauce. Ambiance is okay despite outdated, very dark interior dining spaces....

The food and service was excellent. Everyone working in the bowling alley were super accommodating for my daughter's birthday party.

The waitress was disappointed with us that we didn't make reservations and was served with a sour attitude. The steaks were of poor quality meats.

Some days are better than others. Martin. Meeting with me won't fix my off days ,you need to work on yours.

Food was tasty, well prepared. Both the fried walleye and garlic encrusted broiled walleye was delish.

Good food, good service, shrimp with cabbage appetizer was amazing.

Visiting the area. Ordered the endless fish (cod). The fish was good. The potato skins were great. The onion rings were great. The hushpuppies aren't good at all and really need improvement. This place could add some additional sides (like mashed potatoes and brown gravy, and Mac n cheese). It would also be nice if they had a better selection of diet sodas (such as Diet Mt Dew or Diet Dr Pepper). The service was outstanding. Other than needing some minor tweaks, the experience here was a good one.

This restaurant is a blessing for the community. It has some of the best quailty food and amazing customer service. Id recommend it for everyone. Its a must have if youre staying around here! My family and i have tried many of the dishes and greatly enjoyed them all!

Inflated prices on average food in a building with the 80's wood panels prominently displayed throughout. If they serve your order wrong and you ask for a menu to show them crab cakes are not served dry, the mgr asks you to leave.

Food is okay. It's not cheap, but there's a complete bar. I had walleye which had about 3 more minutes cooking than it needed. We eat here about every 5 years hoping for a great meal, but all we've gotten is nice atmosphere and adequate food. I wish I could be more complimentary.

Bowling here is one of my favorite activities, and the 178 club makes it easy for me to bowl and eat all at the same time.

Best food ever!

Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Went this summer for our anniversary. Server was lazy and talked us into the all you can eat fish on a Friday night...it was AWFUL!! Food was cold, burnt and just disgusting all around. The server never asked us how it was butI told her anyway that it was bad—she said “uh oh” and walked away and never offered to rectify the situation. Very disappointing, I even emailed the 178 Club directly to no avail. Will never go back and we have told all our friends about the horrible experience. Do not recommend!

Went to Club 178 today for Thanksgiving buffet. Food and service was amazing. Thanks to all the hardworking folks who own and work there, you guys are Awesome!

We live locally and have given them multiple chances, each time thinking “maybe it’s an off night for them”. In reality ever dining experience has been subpar. The service is lacking and the food was terribly cooked. We recently had 2 bugs crawl out of a salad and the server acted like it was normal and not an issue. We are a younger couple and I normally tip WAY more than expected but in this case it’s a different story. We watched the server attend to multiple tables with more aged customers as we were left sitting and not paid any attention to. Save your money and go to McDonald’s or any other restaurant than 178 club.

Good spinach salad. Chicken fingers were average. Service good.
